Some of our Year 3 and 4 children took part in a local Hockey festival. They worked brilliantly as a team and had a great afternoon.
Back to Class 3
On Friday 6th October we had a fantastic presentation led by our in school Karate coaches. We had the opportunity to see what this club offers and how the children who already take part have progressed. We also got to see how their skills will be developed as they learn new skills.
We have space available for other children to join (Year 2 and above). If you would like to try this club then arrive at school on Friday 13th October at 8am for a free trial.
Please wear comfortable clothes such as jogging bottom and a PE t-shirt.
This year we introduced Rotakids. The children elected by their peers will be part of a commitee who will work with members of the rotary club to raise money for local, national and multi-national charities.
We had a special assembly to introduce children, parents and staff to the member of the commitee.
Hetton School Science
Class 5 went to Hetton School for a Science lesson.
In the Science lab we had to wear safety goggles and we used lots of different equipment including conical flasks and filter paper. We mixed acid and powder until it was completely dissolved. Then we filtered the solution and poured it into a dish. After 2 weeks we should have some crystals.
After that we had lots of fun with the Van De Graaff generator. The static electricity it produced made our hair stand on end! Finally we watched an experiment called Elephant's toothpaste - yellow oozing foam was created as a result of a chemical reaction. We thought our science lesson was really cool!
