Quilting for beginners......

The children have been learning how to quilt their very own advent stocking and have worked extremely hard.  There have a lot left to do but i am sure you will agree they are coming along nicely!  The hardest obstacle has been threading needles......  I love their expressions when trying to concentrate!

Stone Age art

image

Class three have been learning about the Stone Age and the evidence left behind by the first humans in Britain. As part of this, they have looked at examples of cave paintings and considered how prehistoric people may have made paint. They used a range of materials to make their own paint (as well as lots of mess!) and enjoyed using this to create their own paintings inspired from cave paintings.

Technology Day

Year 5 and 6 had an exciting technology day at the end of the Spring Term.

In the morning we worked in pairs to measure, cut and join wood to make a frame for a cube shaped box. Then we covered 5 faces of our structure to make an open cube box. In the afternoon we made cheese muffins to go in our boxes.

The Pitmen Poets

Class 3/4 were visited by one of the Pitmen Poets who shared some traditional songs and stories.  The children enjoyed listening and singing some of the Pitmen Poet's songs and asked questions about what life was like as a pitman.  We all enjoyed Mr. Graham coming into school and hope he will visit again.
