The children used all types of instruments when composing their own version of Happy by Pharrell Williams.
Anti Bullying week
Year 6 have been learning about the harm that name-calling and starting rumours about others can cause.
They acted out different scenarios thinking about how people would feel if they felt other's were talking about them and what they could do to help.
The children from Year 5 and Year 6 enjoyed another fun day with Theatre Space North East. They found out more about the Maya Gods and how the Maya people lived. They even learnt how to weave depicting Maya patterns
Year 6 have been recieving training to become 'play leaders' this week. They learned how to become good leaders through a series of games and activities designed to bring out leadership and teamwork skills. They learned a great range of new games that they can now teach their peers throughout the school.
They will be taking turns every day to lead a lunchtime session of games. These games will help support a range of skills needed in sports, classroom work and outside school.
Science at Hetton School
Class 5 went to Hetton School for a Science lesson.
In the Science lab we had to wear safety goggles and we used lots of different equipment including conical flasks and filter paper. We mixed acid and powder until it was completely dissolved. Then we filtered the solution and poured it into a dish. After 2 weeks we should have some crystals.
After that we had lots of fun with the Van De Graaff generator. The static electricity it produced made our hair stand on end! Finally we watched an experiment called Elephant's toothpaste - yellow oozing foam was created as a result of a chemical reaction. We thought our science lesson was really cool!
